Police Shooting In Lake Elmo

An investigation has been launched, after a 23-year-old man was killed early Thursday in an officer-involved shooting in Lake Elmo. The man, according to Washington County deputies, was making suicidal comments when he was found… armed with a handgun… near the Lake Elmo Public Library. Officers tried to reason with the man. Then, they were forced to turn up the heat, and so they used non-lethal bean bag rounds to try to take him into custody. That didn’t work, so they were then forced to shoot him. The man… later identifed as Benjamin Evans… was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where he was pronounced dead. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension will investigate the shooting.
