Asbestos Removal Costs Increase With Monitoring Requirement

Earlier this month, Bimidji City Council awarded a $30,490 contract for removal of asbestos in the historic Carnegie Library building. One problem thought… when they inked that deal, they were unaware that the removal requires air quality monitoring while the removal work is happening. Now, they need to bring in another company, to handle the air quality monitoring. The estimated cost for that is $10,000. It’s got to be done… removal of asbestos is required, regardless if the building is moved, renovated or demolished.
