Sophia’s Law Takes Effect May 1st

As we head into boating season, officials issue a reminder that Sophia’s Law takes effect on May 1st. Adam Block is boating law administrator for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

Minnesota will be the first state in the nation to require carbon monoxide detectors and warning stickers on certain boats. Sophia’s Law is named after a 7-year-old girl who died from carbon monoxide poisoning while on her family’s boat.
