PIPELINE APPROVAL MAY NOT BE A DONE DEAL AFTER ALL

Opponents of Enbridge Energy’s planned Line 3 replacement have requested that the Minnesota Court of Appeals declare that the environmental review for the controversial project fails to meet the legal requirements and needs to be redone. The project was approved back in June, by the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission, allowing Enbridge to move forward with replacing its aging Line 3 crude oil pipeline across Minnesota. The PUC declined to reconsider its approval of the review. But the indigenous environmental group “Honor the Earth” says its filing Wednesday would throw that approval into question.
