FLOODING CAUSES HIGH CONCERNS

Heavy rainfall from severe thunderstorms in the overnight on Friday and into Saturday morning, resulted widespread flooding in the northwestern part of Beltrami County, particularly in the Beltrami Island State Forest area. Beltrami County Emergency Management has been in contact with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to get an assessment of the situation. The DNR reports that some areas of northwestern Beltrami County have received over seven inches of rain. The closures will be evaluated today, and motorists are urged not to drive around barricades or through flood waters. If you encounter a roadway that is covered by water, do not drive through it. Turn around, don’t drown.
