More than three-million older adults are treated in emergency rooms for falls each year, with one in five of them suffering serious injuries such as broken bones or head trauma. Kathleen Cameron with the National Council on Aging, says falls are the number one cause of injuries and deaths among older Americans.. a fact that’s increasingly attributed to chronic conditions experienced by many Baby Boomers….

Cameron notes that one in four Americans age 65 and older falls every year, and Minnesota ranks number two after Wisconsin for the number of falls reported among older adults.
