Beltrami County Sheriff’s Report

On Sunday at approximately 5pm, Beltrami County Sheriff’s deputies arrest 51-year-old Derek Kingbird in Cass Lake, based on a report of sexual assault. The complainant was not identified, and no additional details were made available.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a disorderly conduct report on Sunday afternoon at about 1:15pm. The complainant requested that law enforcement remove one unidentified individual from a residence in the area of Coyote Drive NW in Bemidji.

At around 11:36 on Sunday morning, Beltrami County deputies provided traffic control and assisted in removing a vehicle from a ditch in the area of Division Street West and Archery Road NW in Bemidji.

DNR Thin Ice Warning

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is reminding outdoor enthusiasts to stay clear of early ice and use extreme caution when recreating on dangerously cold water. Two anglers lost their lives after breaking through thin ice on their ATV, and several emergency ice rescues have taken place over the last few weeks.

Blackduck Good Samaritan Named

Restorative nurse’s aide Monica Scheldrup has received the Good Samaritan Society-Blackduck/Employee of the Year Award this month at a statewide senior care convention in Minneapolis.

Dollar General is Coming

A change in retail is coming North, and it’s black and yellow. Dollar General, the giant Tennessee-based discounter, opened its first store in North Dakota last February. Vikings Lose 31-24

The Vikings eight-game winning streak was snapped in a 31-24 loss to the Panthers in Carolina Sunday. Minnesota quarterback Case Keenum was sacked six times, threw two interceptions and lost a fumble at Bank of America Stadium.

New Ice in Bemidji

At a November 13 meeting of the Bemidji City Council, Greater Bemidji Executive Director Dave Hengel and Sanford Health officials proposed a new wellness complex that would include two new sheets of ice, as part of a 175,000 square-foot facility on Bemidji’s Sanford Health campus. MPCA Glittery Gift Warning

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency says some glittery gifts can be toxic. MPCA recently bought 89 children’s jewelry products online and from Minnesota stores, and found that three contained high levels of a toxic metal. Learn more at; mpca@public.gov.

St. Paul Woman Sues Police Dog

A 52-year-old St. Paul woman is taking legal action after she took her garbage out and found herself being attacked by a police dog looking for a burglary suspect, according to a federal lawsuit filed Wednesday. Desiree Collins suffered multiple bites to her arm and lower leg.
