CONSERVATION OFFICER DIES AT WORK

Conservation Officer Shannon Barron… after nearly 20 years as a conservation officer in Red Lake Nation… died this past Sunday near the end of his shift. The Red Lake Police Department now say it was the result of a “medical emergency,” although they did not say what that medical issue was. The 48 year old Barron was near the end of his shift when he responded to a call of suspected illegal harvesting north of Red Lake and helped clear the call. Not long after that, Barron began feeling ill. Emergency personnel attempted life-saving efforts and took Barron to the hospital in Red Lake, where he later died. He is survived by his wife and two children.
